Description
Overview: - Healthcare cost continues to rise at an alarming rate, growing well ahead of inflation. In order to explore opportunities to improve the efficiency and reduce costs a gap analysis that compares the differences between healthcare and retail was conducted at the Center for Innovation in Healthcare Logistics (CIHL). This presentation will focus on three core areas that were identified by a panel of industry experts and supported by an industry wide survey as gaps between sectors. We compare and contrast the education and training practices for supply chain professionals in each sector, the use of Collaborative Planning Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR) and the use of actual usage data at the last leg of the supply chain as a means to enhance automated inventory control strategies.
Learning Objectives: - Recall some of the key differences in supply chain best practices between healthcare and retail and gain an understanding as to the degree each practice is utilized in the healthcare sector
- Gain an understanding of the barriers associated with implementing some the retail best practices in the healthcare sector and the potential impacts that their implementation may have on the healthcare supply chain
- Develop an appreciation of where your organization stands with regard to the use of these practices and learn strategies for how to improve their effectiveness in your organization
